Mariangela Sicilia - Jemmy
Operalia Prize winner Mariangela Sicilia is one of the most exciting young
sopranos to have come out of Italy in the last few years; she has been seen, in
the past seasons, in Massenet's Cléopâtre(Charmionand) at the Salzburg
Festival under the baton of Vladimir Fedoseyev; Il Viaggio a Reims, La
Donna del Lago (Alberto Zedda conducting) and L'Italiana in Algeri (Davide
Livermore directing) at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro; Cilea's L'Arlesiana directed
by Rosetta Cucchi at the Wexford Festival Opera, David Angus conducting and at
the Teatro Pergolesi in Jesi, Francesco Cilluffo conducting; Orfeo ed
Euridice in New York;Rigoletto (Gilda) at the Teatro Petruzzelli in
Bari (c.Rizzari; d. Kief).
Mariangela Sicilia has recently performed Pergolesi's Stabat Mater in
Ravenna and Jerusalem, broadcast live by the Italian National Television (Rai
tre); L’Elisir d'Amore in Madrid (c.Piollet; d. Michieletto) and in Monte
Carlo; La Pietra del Paragone at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris,
J.C.Spinosi conducting; Petite Messe Solennelle in Saint-Etienne under
Alberto Zedda and in the World Premiere of Battistelli’s Il Medico dei Pazzi in
Nancy.
Ms. Sicilia is the recipient of several prizes in international vocal
comptitions, winning the 2009 X International “Ruggero Leoncavallo” Competition
in Montalto Uffugo, the first prize and title role of Adina in the Tito Schipa
Competition in Lecce (2012) and a special prize in the “F. Viñas” Competition in
Barcellona (2012).
Future plans include La Bohème under the baton of Mark Elder,
directed by Jonathan Miller and Adriana Lecouvreur with Daniel Oren,
directed by David Mc Vicar, both at the Opéra National de Paris; L’Elisir
d'Amore in Brussels; La Scala di Seta at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie
in Liège, Mariotti conducting and Michieletto directing; Turandot (Liù)
in Montpellier and Verdi’s Quattro Pezzi Sacri in Amsterdam.

Simone Alberghini - Melcthal
Italian bass-baritone Simone Alberghini, the 1994 Operalia Grand Prize winner,
has appeared in opera houses at the highest level world-wide since the beginning
of his career. Simone Alberghini regularly collaborates with internationally
renowned conductors as Alberto Zedda, Vladimir Jurowsky, Riccardo Chailly, Zubin
Mehta, Andrew Davis, Gianandrea Noseda, Seiji Osawa, Maurizio Benini, Michele
Mariotti, Renato Palumbo, Emmanuel Villaume, Nicola Luisotti, Eduardo Muller and
Teodor Currenzis.
Recent
engagements include:Semiramide (Assur)at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples; Don
Giovanni in Frankfurt and at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice; Le Nozze di
Figaro as Figaro in Denver and as Conte d’Almaviva at the Teatro Comunale in
Bologna; Zaira (Orosmane) at the Martina Franca Festival; L’Elisir
d’Amore at the Liceu in Barcelona; La Bohème (Marcello) and L’Elisir
d’Amore at the Teatro Regio in Turin; Carmen at the Zurich Opera.
Among his recitals with orchestra it is worth mentioning Verdi’s Requiem with
the Royal Philarmonic Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Dresden under M. Sinopoli and
with the orchestra Verdi of Milan under M.Chailly, under whom he sang Pulcinella in
Leipzig with the prestigious Gewandhausorchester. Simone Alberghini
recently performed: Guillaume Tell at the Rossini Opera Festival,
Mariotti conducting and Vick directing; Cardenio in Il Furioso all’Isola di
San Domingo at the Donizetti Musica Festival in Bergamo then on tour in
Savona, Modena, Ravenna and Piacenza; Belcore in L’Elisir d’Amore in
Washington; Mozart Requiem in Turin with the Orchestra Sinfonica
Nazionale della Rai.
Simone Alberghini starred in La Cenerentola for the opera movie directed
by Carlo Verdone, conducted by Gianluigi Gelmetti and producted by Rada Film.

d’Hoffmann in Toulon, in Piacenza and on tour in Modena and Reggio Emilia; La
